Technical Director updated new members attending on the objectives of the Security Forum.

Member Update on Current Security Concerns:

  • Vehicle thefts
  • Purple Drank
  • Alcohol and Drug Testing
  • Fake Calls requesting deliveries to alternative, non-licensed addresses or collection from WDA site.
  • Delivery interception

HDA Pharma Watch UK Draft Proposal Update:

  • The format of the current form was discussed. It was agreed it is a useful tool in order to communicate current and immediate issues. Perhaps a monthly summary could be collated.
  • An electronic HDA messaging site was mentioned. Perhaps an APP can be introduced for the Security group to share intelligence, or utilisation of current APP Technology e.g. Whats App Group.
  • A members Security contact list should be compiled to ensure full circulation to members.
  • The NBCC is a useful source of information. https://nbcc.police.uk/

5. 

Serious Incident Reports

  • Non-urgent notifications sent from MHRA to RP’s. Security Group members advised to add themselves to the circulation via MHRA

Email: casereferrals@mhra.gov.uk or ensure their RP circulates.

  • Recent thefts from vehicles include 37,000 units from a curtain sided vehicle in a service station.
  • Falsification of purchase orders placed by individuals portraying to be employees of wholesalers placed with other wholesalers. Asking for delivery to alternate addresses.
  • Geoff Mellor attends MHRA Falsified Medicines Group. It discusses diversion incidents, thefts, counterfeits, on-line prescribing and sales, Intelligence and the Watch List (circulated during meeting).
  • Sophistication of deception is increasing.
  • Following the investigations into benzodiazepines there are approximately 30 prosecutions pending.

  • HDA happy to facilitate early warning system
  • A communications tree needs to be set up.
  • A categorisation of ‘situations’ needs to be created.

MHRA Watch and Monitoring Lists:

  • Watch List and Monitoring List circulated during meeting. This list should be reviewed by members with recommendations forwarded via HDA.
  • Products are reviewed at Falsified Medicines Group meetings
  • The products on the Watch List will be subject to batch recording, when FMD comes into force on 9 February 2019.

  • The meeting agreed that a MHRA presence would be a positive inclusion at future meetings. Geoff Mellor to communicate with Alistair Jeffries.

Any Other Business:

  • HDA Sub Group on Unusual Sales Patterns to be set up
    • Joint Group between Security and RP representatives.
    • Strive to incorporate within existing HDA Gold Standard
    • Members asked to share any relevant documentation with the sub-group via Geoff Mellor.
    • Volunteers wishing to join sub-group to advise Geoff Mellor
  • Consensus is that Security Meetings should be held quarterly
