BAPW Announces Rise in Membership

BAPW, UK, 26 November 2014

As further evidence of the important role The British Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers (BAPW) plays in representing the medicines distribution sector, the BAPW is delighted to welcome a number of new members to the Association. Such an increase reflects the BAPW’s success in representing and supporting its member companies in the changing medicine supply environment.

Mr Sawer noted:

“It is a pleasing vote of confidence that key players in the medicine supply chain independently approach the BAPW to become members. Our focus is to represent distributors who are the backbone of NHS medicines supply, maintaining a vital link in the delivery of healthcare for patients, twice a day, every day. There are evolving models of distribution, but these will only survive if there are the highest standards employed within a resilient framework; BAPW members recognise that and are working together, alongside the NHS, to maintain quality and resilience into the future”.

Ethigen and PCT Healthcare have recently joined the BAPW as Affiliate Members, a category of membership that is reserved for medicine distributing businesses. Affiliate members are fully integrated into the BAPW’s policy and regulatory working groups such as its Responsible Persons’ Committee, which meets regularly with the MHRA.

Bowater Holographics, Meda Pharma and Quantum Pharma have all become Associate members of the BAPW which sees them represented on the Association’s Members’ Liaison Group, which brings together different supply chain businesses to consider common technical issues and hear from industry leaders.

Mr Sawer went onto highlight:

The BAPW is achieving increased recognition across the medicines supply chain and this is often thanks to the constant evolution of its membership. BAPW companies are an essential, and resilient, backbone of NHS medicines supply and an increased membership can only assist our mission to bring the greatest value to patients by ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of medicines across the UK by all the various routes to the patient.
